Product Development Manager - Personal Care
City Personnel is a fast-growing consumer goods organization seeking a highly organized and innovative Personal Care Product Development Manager to support nationally recognized retail partnerships. This role involves overseeing the product development lifecycle for beauty and personal care products, from concept through launch and supporting trend analysis and market research.
Responsibilities
Oversee the full product development lifecycle for beauty, personal care, and health products from concept through post-launch support
Develop and maintain detailed product documentation, including formulations, specifications, packaging requirements, testing plans, and development timelines
Lead new product launches, line extensions, and SKU optimization initiatives
Coordinate with internal teams and external manufacturing partners to ensure quality standards, regulatory compliance, and timely commercialization
Support trend analysis, market research, and competitive assessments to inform innovation strategies
Manage retailer-specific onboarding processes, compliance submissions, and item setup requirements
Analyze product performance and POS data using platforms such as Nielsen, Retail Link, or similar tools to guide assortment and development decisions
Partner with sales and marketing teams to support packaging development, samples, presentations, and go-to-market initiatives
Prepare professional materials, including line reviews, product proposals, launch recaps, and Quarterly Business Reviews
Qualification
Required
5–8+ years of product development experience within beauty, personal care, health, or consumer packaged goods environments
Proven success launching beauty or personal care products into national retail accounts
Strong working knowledge of formulation coordination, packaging development, compliance requirements, and retail timelines
Hands-on experience managing multiple SKUs in fast-paced retail settings
Familiarity with POS, sales, and trend platforms such as Nielsen, Retail Link, or comparable tools
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage overlapping priorities
Strong communication and collaboration skills with internal teams and external partners
Preferred
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution strongly preferred
Experience with mass, drug, grocery, or specialty retail product development processes strongly preferred
