Responsibilities

Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, and/or optical systems
Frequently interacts with peers and customers to gain cooperation of others or conduct presentations of technical information/project activities
Networks with senior internal/external personnel in own area of expertise
Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines the process by which to meet goals
Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, generally instructions on new assignments
You will participate in development activities of products including troubleshooting of designs, design for testability, test plan generation, conducting validation/compliance tests, and creation of design/product documentation
You will participate in these activities to improve performance, functionality, cost optimization, test efficiency, manufacturability and quality in products delivered
You will work in the following areas:
Microprocessor/Microcontroller system design
Memory system designs
Design for circuits with FPGA/CPLD/PAL devices
Ethernet and USB design, testing, certification
Digital and analog electronics, power supply and I/O circuits
Design tools for Schematic Capture and PCB Layout
Board level and system level design verification test
EMI noise reduction techniques/countermeasures for PCB layout
Testing to EMC/EMI regulatory certifications
Signal Integrity measurements using Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes
Perform product testing for Environmental and Certification Test Standards
Manage prototype build from BOM creation to build change requests
Functional Safety product development with IEC61508

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Relevant field
Typically requires 5+ years relevant experience in Electronics Product Design
You have passion in hardware engineering. Have desired for continuous improvement in applying best practice and modern technologies in hardware design and processes
Background in VHDL or Verilog
An experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves wide range of issues in creative ways and effective ways
A passion for hardware and participate in solution investigations
Collaborates well in a team setting

Technical Certification Bonus: Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
