Responsibilities

Lead assembly builds for new product introductions, collaborating with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to refine designs and ensure manufacturability
Execute complex prototype and pilot-run assemblies, providing feedback on tooling, component fit, workflow, and process improvements to support successful product launches
Troubleshoot and document issues during early builds to support design updates and enhance manufacturing readiness
Create and update work instructions, assembly methods, and build documentation to ensure a smooth transition from prototype to full production
Lead build reviews and post-build debriefs, driving continuous improvement and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and launch readiness
Monitor the daily production plan, lead tier meetings, and adjust employee assignments as needed to meet production targets
Build and maintain strong team relationships, enabling open communication and constructive feedback to support daily operations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Planning, Stockroom, Manufacturing Technicians, Engineering, Development, and Quality Engineering—to ensure material readiness and act as an effective liaison between support departments and production
Facilitate problem-solving discussions by gathering diverse perspectives to drive optimal solutions. Report line downtime and non-conforming materials to management
Coordinate and deliver training with the Supervisor, ensuring operators follow all procedures and quality requirements. This includes new-hire onboarding, temporary employee training, new product training, and cross-training. Provide continual feedback and coaching to reinforce learning and performance
Ensure team members follow all written instructions, visual aids, and travelers when assembling products
Perform quality checks on assemblies, finished goods, and components
Ensure proper use of AMT processes for Turck Connect, job confirmation, scrap and rework procedures, Turck Tools completion, and Work Request Sheet usage
Demonstrate strong communication skills and share knowledge, techniques, and best practices with team members. Actively support the Production Supervisor as needed
Work collaboratively with other Lead Assemblers to provide coordination, assistance, and backup coverage
Own and analyze daily AMT production metrics, identify bottlenecks, and independently implement corrective actions to meet output goals. Update metrics, Turck Connect timecards, and facilitate regular team communications. Provide updates on work requests, assist with prioritization, and communicate changes effectively
Continuously improve documented procedures, including SOPs and work instructions, and provide suggestions for enhancements to Manufacturing Engineering and Management
Identify and correct unsafe or inefficient work practices, uphold 5S principles, and champion waste elimination efforts
Support Lean and Quality initiatives, actively participating in Kaizen and continuous improvement activities
Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualification

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Basic reading, math, and problem-solving skills
5+ years of manufacturing production experience, ideally with electromechanical assembly
Basic computer proficiency, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

Experience leading prototype, first-article, and pilot builds for new product introductions
Previous experience in a lead or leadership-support role
Soldering experience a plus
Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or equivalent Continuous Improvement certification preferred
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics); strong data-entry and system-navigation skills
Knowledge of company procedures, production processes, and cross-training in multiple assembly areas is highly desirable
