Responsibilities

Develop and execute the short and long-term goals and objectives of the Foundation's development program for the WVU Eye Institute in order to secure philanthropic support for the WVU Eye Institute’s priorities consistent with WVUF gift acceptance policies and practices
Partner effectively with the Executive Chair and Executive Administrator of the WVU Eye Institute as the “primary customers” in an effort to communicate effectively the Institute’s case for support. Effectively manage up to the Executive Chair and executive Administrator and wisely manage his time related to fundraising
Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of the Eye Institute, the hospital system, the University, and the respective funding priorities
Manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, including grateful patients, from identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship
Appropriately and frequently communicate with hospital, University, WVU Eye Institute and Foundation leadership and development staff as well as volunteer leaders interested in advancing the mission of the WVU Eye Institute
Work closely with and leverage the talents of WVUF Central colleagues including Leadership and Principal Gifts, Institutional Giving, Planned Giving, Leadership Annual Giving, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Communications and Donor Engagement, and Prospect Development and Strategy

Required

Bachelor's degree is required
3-5 years of fundraising experience; non-profit setting preferred
A track record of securing major gifts from identification and cultivation, through successful solicitation required

Preferred

Experience in a health care setting preferred, experience in an academic medical center desired
Detailed working knowledge of CRM donor tracking software preferred
