Staff Scientist
Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking a Staff Scientist in the Pritchard lab of the Genetics Department to develop and implement computational approaches for genomics. The role involves providing technical direction on projects, leading research initiatives, and contributing to the preparation of scientific manuscripts.

Responsibilities
Propose, conceptualize, design, implement, and develop solutions for difficult and complex applications independently
Supervise and mentor PhD students and postdocs, as necessary, working on all phases of research projects
Engage in long-term strategic planning
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems
Lead projects, as necessary, for special systems and application development in areas of complex problems
Contribute to manuscript preparation and revisions as lead- or co-author
Contribute to grant preparation
Participate in scientific meetings and journal clubs
Other duties may also be assigned
Qualification
Required
Experience in functional or single cell genomics and/or statistical genetics
Strong experience in modern computational statistics and machine learning
Proven track record of developing state-of-the-art computational methods for data analysis
Outstanding technical skills in machine learning and/or statistical methods
Training and research experience (preferably at postdoctoral level) in at least one of the following areas of application: functional genomics, single cell genomics, statistical genetics
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience
Expertise in designing, developing, testing, and deploying applications
Proficiency with application design and data modeling
Ability to define and solve logical problems for highly technical applications
Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical clients
Ability to lead activities on structured team development projects
Ability to select, adapt, and effectively use a variety of programming methods
Knowledge of application domain
