Responsibilities
Conduct full mineral and/or surface title research from sovereignty/patent to present
Locate, examine, and analyze deeds, leases, assignments, probate records, plats, surveys, agreements, rights-of-way, encumbrances, liens, and related instruments
Prepare clear and comprehensive Mineral Ownership Reports (MORs) or similar deliverables with supporting documentation
Identify breaks in chain of title, missing instruments, ambiguities, or issues requiring curative action
Confirm accuracy of legal descriptions, tract boundaries, acreage totals, and fractional mineral ownership
Qualification
Required
3+ years of mineral and/or surface title abstracting experience
Strong understanding of title review, conveyancing, probate succession, and chain-of-title analysis
Ability to calculate fractional ownership and determine net mineral acres
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Reliable computer, internet access, and digital file management skills
3+ years of Appalachian experience
