The Planet Group is seeking a Distribution Project Manager to join their growing Distribution Modernization Business Unit. This role involves managing electric distribution engineering projects and fostering client relationships while ensuring project execution meets scope, schedule, and budget requirements.

Responsibilities

Manage electric distribution engineering projects from notice-to-proceed through as-built and closeout
Own project scope, schedule, budget, and financial performance (P&L)
Serve as the primary client point of contact and build long-term utility relationships
Lead multi-discipline teams across planning, design, permitting, ROW, procurement, construction support, and closeout
Prepare proposals, assist with presentations, and support contract negotiations
Ensure compliance with NESC and applicable utility/industry standards
Oversee QA/QC, risk management, change management, and project controls
Coordinate internal staffing and support hiring, training, and mentoring of team members
Proactively identify opportunities for repeat work and expanded services within client accounts

Required

8–12 years of experience
Education: Engineering or related
7+ years of progressive electric distribution engineering experience
3+ years managing distribution engineering projects
Hands-on experience producing or overseeing distribution design and construction documents
Strong understanding of electric utility distribution systems (overhead & underground)
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills

Preferred

Professional Engineer (PE)
Project Management Professional (PMP)
Experience working directly with electric utilities
Strong business acumen and comfort owning project financials
