Responsibilities
Design new consumer products from the ground up in constant consultation with structural and thermal simulation teams to deliver highly reliable and high performance product layouts
Select optimal materials and finishes to balance product requirements such as cost, reliability, and antenna performance
Promote cross-functional teams on the product goal and generate excitement around solving difficult technical problems
Design prototype options to converge on an optimal implementation for new products
Advocate for new technology and materials development that offer clear benefits to future product layouts, and routinely communicates key updates to leadership throughout the organization to build consensus around the best paths forward
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
5 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes
5 years of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks
Experience with the design of plastic and metal components, PCBs/FPCBs, and acoustics used in consumer electronic products
Preferred
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
8 years of work experience in consumer product design
Experience shipping multiple consumer products in a lead or engineer role
Experience in 3D CAD using NX
Knowledge of common technologies used in consumer products (e.g., plastic injection molding, sheet metal, extrusion, die casting)
Understanding of the smartphone product category and engaged landscape
