Office Engineer

Responsibilities

Assist the Resident Engineer with all roadway construction inspection duties and related office engineering tasks
Understand client needs and consistently follow all customer safety protocols
Complete required daily documentation, including Inspector’s Daily Reports
Perform inspections for quality workmanship, including accurate field measurements of materials and products
Monitor contractor activities such as quality control, traffic control, and compliance with environmental requirements
Identify contract changes or field adjustments, recommend actions to the Resident Engineer, and ensure compliance with Prevailing Wage laws and labor regulations

Required

Graduation from a four (4) year curriculum in civil engineering and a documented minimum two (2) years of demonstrated experience in roadway construction inspection of highways or major public works projects
OR a master's or doctorate degree in a Civil engineering curriculum or a baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering and a documented minimum two (2) years of demonstrated experience in office engineering or roadway construction inspection of highways or major public works projects
Possession of a valid certificate as an Engineer-in-Training
Experience working with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) standards, specifications, and Construction Manual and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) procedures
Must meet internal requirements for operation of company vehicles throughout duration of employment and must maintain a valid driver's license and insurable driving record
Must be willing and able to travel to job sites, sometimes for extended periods
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time and working in indoor and outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and cold
