Responsibilities

Assess individuals in the community who are experiencing an emergency mental health crisis; provide supportive listening and create safety plans as needed
Work with individuals and their support systems to assess the consumers for needed resources that will help resolve the consumer’s crisis situation and refer the consumer to the identified resources
Provide oral and written communication that is appropriate to the task and in accordance with agency, DHS 34 and Medicaid standards
Provide telephone and mobile crisis intervention services to children, adolescents, adults, and families in the community
Interview clients and families to obtain mental health and/or AODA information and assess the needs of the individual and family
Gather data from consumer interviews, past records, etc. to gain understanding and verification of previous disorders and treatment episodes
Complete in person assessments in the community, at the individual's residence, hospital, jail, school, or at the Assessment Center location to identify the needs of a consumer and appropriate level of care
Provide supportive listening; crisis intervention services; linkages to services; and create safety plans as needed
Develop crisis plans utilizing the strengths of the individual/family and available community resources to resolve the immediate crisis
Facilitate follow-up interventions with the individual/family
Represent Behavioral Health Services at WI Stats., Ch. 51 hearings
Make intervention and assessment decisions using the “Best Practice” philosophy
Work collaboratively with law enforcement, families, other county departments, schools, acute care services providers, and other community resources to coordinate appropriate crisis resolution and referral
Communicate pertinent information on a timely basis and participate in clinical supervision case reviews, staffing's, and/or case planning meetings
Complete all necessary health care/medical and financial record documentation required to maintain complete medical and financial billing records
Complete and coordinate appropriate and timely medical record documentation, which may include assessments, follow-up contacts, crisis plans, administrative, demographic, insurance, and financial information
Perform other duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, human services, psychology, or related degree required
Valid Wisconsin driver's license and automobile insurance are required
Fully vaccinated against Covid-19

Preferred

Master's degree in social work or counseling preferred
Ability to obtain a certified advance practice social worker or licensed professional counselor – in training license preferred
A minimum of one year of experience providing mental health or crisis services preferred
Experience working with youth with mental health issues preferred
