Responsibilities
Supervise the Underwriting and Business Analytics teams to include selection, training, and development, coaching, counseling and performance management
Manage team of underwriters responsible for underwriting potential clients as well as renewal rates for existing clients
Manage team of analysts responsible for analytics critical to the company’s performance
Continuously evaluate results and data points to determine appropriate factors and data elements to accurately assess risk, including new product designs and integrated retail and managed care offerings
Establish underwriting protocol and guidelines to ensure adherence to internal and external compliance standards
Maintenance and continued development of rating models, utilization, and trend assumptions to ensure integrity of underwriting activities and processes
Work closely with Segment Leaders, Sales, Client Management, Operations, and Marketing departments to develop RFP/RFI responses for new and existing clients
Manage and review periodically management reporting including quarterly profit and loss reporting by client and membership
Expertise in internal and external trends and market data, including competitive intelligence and risks affecting the business to take action to optimize results
Develop a highly skilled and well trained 'world class' staff to ensure the efficient and effective management of all functions, with the ability to support a rapid-growth company
Adhere to privacy, confidential, and proprietary company policies and procedures (i.e. HIPAA)
Responsible for presentation to senior management any key client underwriting, reporting, and ad hoc analysis and projects
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination or experience and education
10 plus years of Underwriting, Finance or Actuarial experience
Supervisory and analytical experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
Adhere to privacy, confidential, and proprietary company policies and procedures (i.e. HIPAA)
Expertise in internal and external trends and market data, including competitive intelligence and risks affecting the business to take action to optimize results
