Crane Company is seeking an Engineering Co-Op to provide general engineering support including product design and CAD documentation. The role involves working on impactful projects related to various markets and includes responsibilities such as preparing layout drawings, collaborating with manufacturing, and providing technical assistance to different departments.

Responsibilities

Prepare layout drawings and assemblies, dimensional analysis, review mechanical components for functional compatibility and perform product performance calculations as necessary to support engineers working on design projects
Create new and maintain old Bills of Material structure
Design new and/or modified products using CAD equipment and software
Communicate well with all personnel inside and outside the company structure including Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales & Marketing, Purchasing & Inventory Control, Suppliers, Customers and other personnel
Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings
Provide technical assistance to Engineering and all other departments as needed or assigned
Collaborate with manufacturing in the solution of manufacturing, inspection, assembly and testing problems. Collaboration with marketing and applications engineering with respect to customer concerns or requirements
Investigate product improvement opportunities and shortcomings discovered through testing or field performance data. Develop solutions and or improvements
Work in lab to build appropriate test apparatus to verify product design
Run product verification tests in lab as necessary
Some travel required for customer and supplier liaison activity
Other duties as assigned

Required

Working toward B.S. Mechanical, Mechanical Tech, or Electrical Engineering
Experience with modeling software (SolidWorks preferred), as well as thorough knowledge of all MS Office software: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project and Access)
Strong Communications and Organization skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and process instructions
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Able to safely operate in wide variety of factory settings
Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. The position includes deskwork using a computer, following up with production in Machine Shop or Assembly Areas, and assisting with product testing in the Lab
