Responsibilities
Work directly with clients to support monthly accounting, tax preparation, and advisory services
Prepare individual and business tax returns
Participate in tax planning and strategic consulting engagements
Assist in project and deadline management for client deliverables
Help design and improve internal workflows and client-facing processes
Learn new technologies and tools to make your work (and ours) more efficient
Take part in building long-term client relationships based on trust, accuracy, and great communication
Partner with clients to deliver daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting tailored to each client’s business and decision-making needs
Lead and execute month-end close processes, including reconciliations, draw requests, bill payments, and cash management activities
Serve as a fractional CFO for assigned clients by developing a deep understanding of their operations, priorities, and financial drivers
Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights, proactively communicate risks and opportunities, and deliver accurate, timely work product
Act as a trusted financial point of contact, supporting client leadership with ongoing analysis, planning, and operational guidance
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, economics, finance, or related field
At least 4 years of hands-on, high-quality accounting experience
Strong competence in maintaining organizational accounting records
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to spot issues before they become problems
Fast learner who adapts quickly to new clients, industries, and systems
Strong QuickBooks Online proficiency
Ability to commute to Carlsbad, CA 92008
Preferred
Combination of public accounting and private industry experience, with exposure to multiple clients, industries, or business models
CPA-eligible (CPA credential not required, but preference given to candidates who have completed the required coursework)
Experience working in client-facing or advisory roles, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Comfort operating in ambiguous or fast-moving environments, exercising sound judgment without heavy oversight
Proficiency with modern accounting systems and a willingness to learn new tools and workflows quickly
