Responsibilities
Serve as Outsourced CFO for assigned nonprofit and public-sector clients
Oversee accounting operations, month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management
Advise executive leadership and boards on financial strategy, compliance, and sustainability
Design and strengthen accounting systems, internal controls, cost allocation methodologies, and indirect cost rates
Provide financial management training and technical assistance to client leadership and staff
Conduct organizational financial assessments and support implementation of recommended improvements
Analyze financial statements to identify operational risks and develop corrective action plans
Support clients with federal grant compliance under 2 CFR Part 200 and HUD program requirements (CDBG, HOME, ESG, CoC, DR)
Provide guidance on allowable costs, procurement, budgeting, and financial reporting
Assist with managing HUD technical assistance work plans and internal award reporting
Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously
Supervise Financial Management Consultants and subcontractors
Maintain strong client relationships and ensure high-quality service delivery
Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients
Support proposal development and contribute to revenue goals
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in nonprofit or government accounting and financial management
Strong working knowledge of GAAP for nonprofits and public agencies
Demonstrated experience providing outsourced CFO or senior financial leadership services
Hands-on experience with federal grants and OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200); HUD experience strongly preferred
Proficiency in QuickBooks (required)
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial audiences
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced consulting environment
Preferred
Background in community development, housing, or public-sector programs
Experience supporting federally funded organizations
MIP, QuickBooks, SAP and/or Yardi experience a plus
