Sr. Process Engineer

Epic Advanced Materials is a company focused on the production of novel nanomaterials. They are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to manage and improve existing processes, design and implement new processes for the synthesis and modification of boron nitride nanomaterials, and lead efforts in process optimization and control.

Responsibilities

Direct the design and execution of experiments for optimization of synthesis, purification, and functionalization of BN nanomaterials
Display a commitment to safety in developing and following process safety protocols and guidelines
Design, implement, commission, manage, and improve all processes related to the manufacture of BN nanomaterials from raw materials to finished products
Collaborate well with R&D in developing processes that facilitate scale-up and effectively support commercial activities
Collaborate effectively whenever needed with all teams and individuals throughout the company
Oversee the production of BN nanomaterials and the derivative products
Maintain any and all engineering documentation, including SOPs, drawings, and product and process specifications
Manage the engineering staff
Prepare internal and external documentation for processes including SOPs, reports, publications or patents as needed
Participate in modeling processes of synthesis of, and chemical modification of, BNNT materials

Required

Minimum BS degree in Chemical Engineering, (graduate degree preferred)
8-16 years of hands on process engineering experience in specialty chemicals, (preferably colloids and suspensions, and more preferably nano materials. Experience with plasma or flame-based processes is a plus)
Strong understanding of particulate materials, their properties, and safe handling procedures
Experience with process design and scale-up. (Experience in pilot operations a plus. (Experience in designing and building facilities a plus.)
Able to create P&ID and parts drawings. Able to create SOPs
Working knowledge of Design Of Experiments methodologies and application for problem solving and optimization. (Six-Sigma and LEAN training a plus.)
Good grasp of process control, automation, and data acquisition fundamentals
Must have some familiarity with basic electronic circuits. (Familiarity with radio frequency equipment is a plus.)
Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Must be able to manage a small team of technicians
Must possess the willingness and ability to perform independent research to fill any knowledge gaps in areas related to the manufacturing processes. This includes staying current with the latest industry trends and advancements, such as machine learning
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for extended periods
Familiarity with equipment acquisition, installation and maintenance, including design and fabrication of custom parts
