Environmental Evaluation & Risk Assessment Intern - CSRR-2026-4i

The NJ Department of Environmental Protection is dedicated to protecting public health and the environment through its Contaminated Site Remediation & Redevelopment program. The Environmental Evaluation & Risk Assessment Intern will assist in compiling data on naturally occurring metals in NJ soils and creating a geospatial data layer using ArcPro to support remediation efforts.

Create a geospatial data layer in ArcPro
Potentially create a web map for public access via ArcGIS online

Qualification

ArcGIS ProArcGIS OnlineMicrosoft ExcelMicrosoft AccessEnvironmental Sciences

Required

proficient in ArcGIS Pro
has experience with ArcGIS Online
knowledgeable with Microsoft Suite programs such as Excel and Access
must be authorized to work in the United States per the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations
must possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position
must establish and maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey within one year from the date of employment if newly hired on or after September 1, 2011

Preferred

enrolled at an accredited university/college studying one of the Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences/Studies, Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or in Environmental Planning, Environmental Policy, or Physical Geography
studying Civil Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Bio-resource Engineering
