Pediatric Psychologist- Chronic Pain Program

The Emory + Children’s Pediatric Institute is seeking a Pediatric Psychologist to join their multidisciplinary Pediatric Chronic Pain Clinic, focusing on treating behavioral health needs in children and adolescents with chronic pain. This role involves conducting multidisciplinary evaluations and providing outpatient therapy for patients experiencing chronic pain and associated distress.

Responsibilities

Work closely with medical team members on the Chronic Pain Team including pediatric anesthesiologists, pediatric nurse practitioners, physical therapists, nurses, and social work
Conduct multidisciplinary evaluations of patients experiencing chronic pain due to a variety of conditions including musculoskeletal pain, inflammatory pain, abdominal pain, hypermobility syndrome/Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, and chronic headache
Carry a caseload of outpatient therapy patients for psychological treatment of chronic pain and associated distress
Incorporate biofeedback into treatment as available, and support both in-person and telemedicine treatment
Participate in the training of psychology doctoral externs, doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows as well as other behavioral mental health trainees
Engage in clinical research and program development across clinical care settings

Required

Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA/CPA accredited program
Completed an APA accredited internship
Licensed or licensed-eligible in Georgia prior to employment
Must obtain board certification within hospital timelines

Preferred

Experience in treating behavioral health needs in children and adolescents with Chronic Pain
Experience with multidisciplinary treatment
Experience in diagnostic interviewing
Experience in behavioral and cognitive-behavioral interventions
Experience in pediatric hypnosis
Experience in behavioral parent training for medically complex youth
Completed a postdoctoral fellowship
Prior work experience in pediatric chronic pain
