Applications Engineer

IMG-NA, LLC is a System Integrator specializing in Assembly and Joining automation equipment. The Applications Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting automated solutions to enhance operational efficiency, while collaborating closely with various teams to scope and deliver automation opportunities.

Responsibilities

Evaluate the scope of potential projects, including technical requirements, resource needs, risks, and integration challenges
Review RFQs, customer specifications, and process requirements to determine the appropriate scope of work
Develop accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and specialized services required for automation projects
Identify assumptions, exclusions, technical risks, and areas requiring clarification
Develop comprehensive proposals outlining project approach, cost, schedule, and value proposition
Collaborate with sales and project management to ensure proposals align with IMG capabilities, technical feasibility, and business strategy
Lead communication with customers regarding project scope, timing, process requirements, and alternate IMG-engineered solutions
Participate in pre-sales discussions, support proposal presentations, and provide technical clarification
Assist with contract negotiations and project definition as needed
Translate technical and business requirements into detailed automation specifications
Recommend appropriate automation platforms, hardware, and software based on project needs
Maintain strong understanding of robotic applications, assembly processes, and joining technologies
Support internal teams and clients with engineering insights related to tooling, processing, and automation strategies
Lead IMG’s internal job kickoff process upon PO acceptance
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and project management throughout the project lifecycle
Support continuous improvement efforts to refine estimating tools, proposal templates, and engineering standards
Monitor industry trends, market pricing, and emerging technologies to ensure competitive and accurate cost modeling

Required

B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent technical education/experience
5+ years of experience in the industrial or automotive industry
5+ years working in the automation field
5+ years developing processes for assembly and joining applications
5+ years of experience in cost estimating and proposal development
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software
Strong understanding of automation systems, robotics, and general assembly tooling
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and process documents
Strong interpersonal communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities
Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and capable of working independently
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Willingness and ability to travel to customer site as required
