Associate
Hiline is a rapidly scaling, tech-forward outsourced financial operations company serving the SMB community. The Associate role involves supporting financial operations for clients, preparing financial statements, and collaborating with team members to ensure operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Support the financial operations for a portfolio of our clients, including month-end close, account reconciliations, A/P, A/R, invoicing, bill pay, and basic financial reporting
Prepare accurate financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow) and help ensure completeness and accuracy of restricted vs. unrestricted funding
Assist in recurring client meetings by sharing updates, walking through deliverables, and answering foundational questions related to the financials
Communicate with clients in a clear, professional, and timely manner to gather documentation, clarify requests, and ensure smooth workflows
Support specific accounting needs such as documentation cleanup during onboarding or transitions
Prepare schedules and documentation to support client audits and collaborate with Senior Associates on audit readiness
Identify missing information, risks, or inconsistencies and escalate appropriately to your Senior Associate or Manager
Work closely with Senior Associates and Managers to complete recurring deliverables and understand client expectations
Participate in sprint planning with your squad to prioritize tasks and understand deadlines, blockers, and sprint goals
Collaborate with offshore team members to maintain continuous close workflows and accurate handoffs
Contribute to a feedback-driven team culture by surfacing blockers, raising process issues, and suggesting improvements
Partner cross-functionally with Tax, People Services, and Growth teams when needed to support shared clients
Use automation tools, workflow software, and AI-powered features to streamline and improve the accuracy of daily tasks
Complete backlog items and internal projects as assigned, including reporting updates, cleanup work, or documentation improvements
Look for opportunities to improve processes, reduce inefficiencies, and help maintain a strong internal control environment
Manage workload effectively to ensure all work meets Hiline’s timeliness, accuracy, and communication SLAs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
2–3+ years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally with multiple clients
A foundational understanding of accounting concepts
Comfort interpreting financial statements and working within a month-end close process
Tech-savvy mindset and willingness to adopt new tools, including AI-powered workflows
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Clear communication skills and a client-first mentality
A collaborative approach with openness to feedback, learning, and problem-solving
Alignment with Hiline's values—authentic, humble, brave, and driven
Preferred
Experience using accounting tools such as QuickBooks Online
Bill.com, or similar systems
