Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable data transformation pipelines using dbt on Snowflake
Develop and manage Jinja-based dbt macros to enable code reusability, modularity, and dynamic SQL generation
Utilize advanced dbt features including materializations (incremental, table, view), snapshots, and configurations
Write optimized and complex SQL for data cleaning, aggregation, and transformation within dbt models
Enforce best practices for dbt project structure, documentation, testing, and Git-based version control
Collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements
Design and implement logical and physical data models (e.g., star and snowflake schemas) to support analytics and reporting
Translate business needs into efficient, scalable data models within dbt
Leverage Snowflake performance features including virtual warehouses, clustering, caching, and query optimization
Manage and optimize data ingestion and integration from multiple sources into Snowflake
Support ELT workflows aligned with modern cloud data warehouse architectures
Ensure data quality, integrity, and lineage across all transformations
Implement and maintain dbt tests to validate business rules and data accuracy
Support data governance standards and best practices within the dbt environment
Develop and execute automated tests for reliable data pipelines
Participate in code reviews, provide feedback, and ensure adherence to standards
Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Stay current with dbt and Snowflake enhancements and recommend process improvements and automation
Qualification
Required
5+ years of hands-on experience with dbt in a production environment (macros, advanced modeling)
Expert-level proficiency in SQL
Strong experience with Snowflake, including performance tuning and optimization
Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL/ELT processes
Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques (star schema, snowflake schema)
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
