IT Specialist (Cloud Platform Engineer)

The position is with the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), within the Office of Information Technology (OIT). The IT Specialist (Cloud Platform Engineer) will provide enterprise-wide cloud platform engineering expertise, oversee comprehensive financial operations, and deliver strategic analytical reports.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and deploy cloud infrastructure environments (development, testing, staging, production)
Execute systematic onboarding processes for new cloud customers and projects
Design and implement cloud networking solutions including VPCs, subnets, and security groups
Collaborate with stakeholders to design scalable and secure cloud architectures and provide technical guidance on cloud best practices, security standards, and cost optimization
Implement and maintain security controls in accordance with federal standards (FedRAMP, FIPS 140-2)

Required

You must be a U.S. Citizen or National to apply for this position
You will be subject to a background and suitability investigation
You must have IT-related experience, at the GS-14 grade level in the federal government, demonstrating each of the four competencies listed: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, Problem Solving
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Developing cloud systems across multiple platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Oracle) and upgrade outdated IT infrastructure to modern, secure cloud solutions; 2) Implementing automated security processes, deployment pipelines, and ensure all systems meet federal cybersecurity requirements; AND 3) Leading agency-wide cloud improvement projects and find ways to optimize spending and save money on cloud services
