Assistant Director, Leadership Giving

The University of Chicago Booth School of Business is seeking an Assistant Director, Leadership Giving to focus on leadership level Annual Fund prospects. This role involves identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospective donors, managing a portfolio of high-end annual donors, and executing a significant number of outreach visits each year.

Responsibilities

Identify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors who have the capacity to make financial commitments of $2,500 to $100,000 or more. Manage a portfolio of high-end annual donors and prospects
Plan and execute a target total of 125 visits per year and a commensurate number of Annual Fund solicitations
Qualify new prospects and determine creative cultivation and solicitation strategies to further engagement of alumni to the school
Conduct a high level of outreach on an ongoing basis to prospects to secure digital, phone, and in-person meetings, with an emphasis on digital and phone as first points of contact
Plan and solicit a number of multi-year pledges as determined in concert with manager during annual goal setting
Based on qualification assessment, nominate prospects to move to major gift portfolios and work with major gift officers to transition prospects into working with major gift officers
Assist with events and attend evening and weekend functions as necessary

Required

Bachelor's degree or higher required
A minimum of two years of professional work experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, sales, public relations or similar work experience required
Demonstrated experience in planning and managing programs required
Strong verbal and writing skills, high attention to detail and follow-up, and excellent organizational skills required
Strong commitment to customer service required
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact required
Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Advancement, including Phoenix, the University's alumni and donor database of record, Zoom, a Microsoft Windows computer environment, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access required
An exceptional work ethic and track record of personal initiative required; outstanding interpersonal and communications skills characterized by the ability to listen, to speak, and to write well required
Must be flexible and adaptable to new programs in an emerging and changing environment required
Willingness and ability to travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for University business required
Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends required

Demonstrated success in soliciting and closing individual leadership gifts preferred
