Code Enforcement Inspector
SAFEbuilt is a company providing Community Development services with a focus on integrity and teamwork. They are seeking a talented and experienced Code Enforcement Inspector to investigate code violations and maintain property standards through inspections and documentation.

Responsibilities
Responds to and investigates allegations of violations of Municipal, Land Development and Property Maintenance Codes to determine validity of complaints and the appropriate course of action to mitigate issues
Notification of issues given in writing, by phone, in person and electronically
Schedules and performs systematic property maintenance inspections to maintain or achieve minimum property standards
Prepares records and reports pertaining to abatements, court actions, daily activities, enforcement actions and inspections
Compiles documentation for and issues summons
Performs other duties as required or assigned
Qualification
Required
Experience in enforcement, security, or compliance-related work including investigating allegations, conducting research and resolving complaints, concerns or conflicts
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license and a good driving record required
Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions
Ability to work with all levels of management; strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to establish priorities, work independently in rapidly changing environment, and function as group leader
Must possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele
Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills
Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment
Mobility & Movement: Frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling, or kneeling to conduct inspections
Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, or unfinished stairways to access roofs, attics, crawl spaces, and other elevated or confined areas
Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving objects up to 25–50 pounds (e.g., inspection tools, plans, or small equipment)
Visual acuity sufficient to read construction plans, technical documents, and observe construction details
Ability to detect safety hazards and defects through visual and auditory inspection
Hearing sufficient to communicate with contractors, workers, and the public in noisy environments
Use of hands and fingers to handle tools, operate inspection equipment, and use computers/tablets for reporting
Work performed in both office and field settings
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) and construction site environments (noise, dust, uneven terrain)
Frequent driving between inspection sites and company locations within a region
Preferred
ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification is a plus
Additional ICC certifications are a plus
