Product Engineer

Responsibilities
Evaluate existing products to identify new use cases, enhancements, and expansion opportunities
Design and conduct research initiatives that inform product and feature development
Analyze existing and newly acquired datasets to assess their value for analytics and decision-making
Perform preliminary data analysis and validation to assess feasibility prior to engineering development
Develop clear, data-driven reports that validate research findings and product recommendations
Prepare documentation to support customer requirements, compliance needs, and internal decision-making
Communicate research outcomes and product insights to technical and non-technical audiences
Participate in customer meetings to gather insights, provide technical guidance, and support product adoption
Translate customer feedback into actionable recommendations for product and engineering teams
Conduct onsite visits as needed to support training, assessments, and implementation efforts
Design and deliver customer training programs to maximize product effectiveness and value
Assess internal and customer-facing processes and recommend improvements aligned with best practices
Document and refine workflows to support operational efficiency and scalability
Collaborate with Engineering to guide product updates, enhancements, and new developments
Provide industry-specific context and insights to inform product strategy and internal teams
Stay current on industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies impacting railway operations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
Experience in product engineering, analytics, or technical consulting
Knowledge of inspection systems and datasets commonly used in the railroad industry, such as track geometry data and wayside detector (hot box, WILD, etc.) data
Strong communication skills and familiarity with conveying technical information in a clear manner for a range of audiences
Comfort working with customers and cross-functional teams
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Preferred
Railroad industry experience preferred, including knowledge of track and/or freight and passenger equipment regulations and standards
Signal detection theory experience preferred, specifically regarding quantifying the effectiveness of an inspection system
Research & Development experience preferred, including a strong background in physical modeling
