InternLeland is offering a Planning internship that provides insight and practical knowledge in various aspects of the planning profession. Interns will support planning projects, assist in data collection, and present findings to the Planning team and Town Boards.

Responsibilities
Provides support to a team of Planning and Inspections staff
Assists staff in collecting and preparing data for various projects
Conducts field work, collects parcel data and searches land records
Prepares maps and planning reports of limited or variable complexity
Produces sketches and renderings of limited or variable complexity
Assists planning staff at public meetings
Presents report findings at team and board meetings
Conducts basic office functions as needed, such as data entry, file management, and customer service
Works on special and long-term projects in planning areas such as long-range, transportation, environmental, economic, and community development
Qualification
Required
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be currently enrolled in 2 or 4-year degree programs with relevant degree paths
Must be able to work a minimum of eight hours a week
Must pass a background investigation and pre-employment drug screening
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina
General knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic
Ability to operate general office equipment
Ability to complete projects within timelines and pay attention to detail
Ability to research, collect, organize and analyze data and to prepare technical reports
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to deal courteously with the public
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, medical personnel, court personnel and the general public
