Director of Business Development

Responsibilities

Identify, pursue, and cultivate relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders in targeted markets
Represent MGT at industry events, conferences, and networking forums
Collaborate with delivery leaders to develop proposals, contracts, and client presentations
Support marketing and public relations efforts to increase visibility and strengthen brand presence
Optimize Salesforce CRM usage to ensure accurate contact management, pipeline tracking, and performance reporting
Serve as a market-facing thought leader by monitoring policy trends, emerging needs, and sector dynamics; translate insights into actionable growth strategies
Develop and deliver compelling proposals and presentations to win new work and expand existing accounts
Participate in client discovery meetings and project kickoffs to understand needs and priorities
Build and manage the full sales funnel from lead generation through close
Lead sales pursuits and pitches to convert opportunities into revenue
Maintain strong client relationships and partner with leadership to identify additional growth opportunities
Track and analyze market trends, competitor activity, and industry best practices
Develop and execute a business development strategy aligned with Social Impact and Management Consulting portfolio goals
Design and manage dashboards and metrics to monitor pipeline health, conversion rates, and sales performance
Identify process improvements and automation opportunities to increase efficiency and scalability

Required

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance, or a related field
Ten (10) or more years of experience in business development, sales, or growth leadership roles within social impact, management consulting, professional services, or related B2B industries
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets through long-cycle, consultative sales
Fluency with CRM and sales enablement tools (e.g., Salesforce, Salesloft), analytics, and data-driven decision making
Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop and execute effective business development strategies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and present complex ideas clearly and persuasively
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholders
Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and adjust business development strategies accordingly
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop creative solutions to complex business challenges
Deep understanding of management consulting in a social impact context, including areas such as strategic planning, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL), donor and fundraising strategy, and operational excellence
Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Preferred

Established network of business development relationships within social impact, government, nonprofit, or adjacent sectors
Self-starter mindset with a strong drive to build relationships and thrive in a sales-focused environment
Knowledge of marketing principles and strategies, including the ability to support or execute effective go-to-market campaigns
Customer-centric approach, with the ability to assess client needs and design tailored solutions
