They are seeking a power systems engineer to lead the implementation and development of power flow studies for their distributed residential batteries grid operations, collaborating with various teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Collect power flow study requirements for Base battery aggregation use-cases (i.e. transient stability, steady-state, and contingency analyses)

Choose the correct power flow study tooling for different use-cases (e.g. distribution system design, joint distribution and transmission system modeling)

Aid in the design and deployment of power flow models that are solved programmatically, and on a recurring basis

Compile and present study results to internal and external stakeholders

Advocate for standards amendments through active participation in standards committees and technical meetings (e.g. IEEE PES GM)

Required

Deep experience with power flow modeling tools and solver engines, ideally both transmission (e.g. PSS/E, PowerWorld) and distribution (e.g. CYME, GridLab-D)

Data analysis and visualization with standard Python tooling, familiarity with PyPSA a plus

Familiarity with IEEE standard test feeder topologies

Familiarity with tools and methodologies for horizontally scaling compute intensive power flow studies

Preferred

Practical experience with bulk transmission system interconnection processes is a plus
