Law Practice
Responsibilities
Attending daily court appearances at various courthouses
Handling a diverse caseload of misdemeanors, felonies, and post-conviction cases
Conducting jury trials
Visiting clients in jail as necessary
Performing legal research and writing, including drafting motions, as well as contributing to firm blogs or articles
Attending and conducting DMV-APS hearings
Performing case evaluations and strategic analysis of cases
Conducting client consultations and providing compassionate legal guidance
Complying with all firm policies and procedures, along with all federal, state, and local laws
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
1-5+ years of criminal defense experience
Must be an active member in good standing with the State Bar of California and admitted to practice law in California
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
Professional appearance and decorum in both the courtroom and the office
Collaborative and team-oriented approach with colleagues
Preferred
One or more years of experience in handling a variety of criminal cases, including misdemeanors, felonies, resentencing, and post-conviction matters
Some trial experience
Familiarity with contested motions and DUI/vehicle-related crimes, including DMV-APS hearings
Excellent courtroom presence
Professional and empathetic demeanor in all client interactions
Strong legal research, writing, and strategic analysis skills
Capable of evaluating cases and developing effective defense strategies
Excellent verbal communication and negotiation skills
Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented
Ability to effectively manage time and multitask
Ability to work with minimal to no supervision
Tech-savvy and computer literate
