Outpatient Scheduling Specialist

The Outpatient Scheduling Specialist will serve as the first point of contact for patients and families at the Outpatient Center, performing tasks related to patient registration and scheduling to ensure timely access to services.

Responsibilities
Perform duties related to patient registration:
Greeting patients and family members
Checking patients in for appointments
Maintains or updates information as needed in the EMR and other databases
Obtains necessary paperwork upon patient arrival and assures completion of all necessary forms
Clarifies required pre-service information with the patient, family members or referral sources
Explains policies and procedures to provide a clear understanding of patient responsibilities
Perform duties related to patient scheduling:
Schedules and modifies appointments for new and established patients to ensure timely access to services
Responds to telephone requests for services and inquiries, and communicates with assigned staff to facilitate requested services
Consults with providers, nurses, supervisors, and other appropriate resources to resolve complex patient needs or scheduling issues
Send new patient packets out, initiate appointment reminder calls, manage waitlists, and send recall reminders for follow-up appointments
Coordinate interpreter services as needed
Qualification
Required
High School diploma/GED is required
One year's experience scheduling in a medical clinic is required
Preferred
Post secondary education is preferred
Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or other chronic health conditions is also preferred
