Academic Department Administrator

Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for all Economics students, providing holistic support and guidance on academic and administrative matters
Assist undergraduate students with registration, degree requirements, and departmental academic policies
Maintain accurate and complete student records, ensuring compliance with university policies and standards
Monitor student progress toward degree completion and counsel or refer students as appropriate
Coordinate course scheduling changes, enrollment monitoring, and communication with faculty, staff, and students
Assist the department chair and deputy chair with academic scheduling, syllabi collection, and deployment and tabulation of course evaluations
Extract and analyze departmental data for reporting, strategic planning, and leadership decision-making
Regularly update departmental web content to reflect current course offerings, deadlines, and policy changes
Assist with the planning and execution of departmental events, including graduation celebrations, student luncheons, and special projects
Attend departmental and CCAS staff meetings, integrating and coordinating with other administrative staff on key initiatives
Manage front office operations, including supervising student employees, delegating responsibilities, and maintaining a professional and functional workspace
Oversee facility use and scheduling of shared program spaces such as conference rooms
Identify, document, and follow up on facility issues with appropriate maintenance staff
Handle basic financial transactions, including purchasing supplies, reconciling PCard bills, and maintaining expense trackers
Provide clerical assistance to faculty and staff, including office supply ordering, mailing, photocopying, and data compilation
Serve as liaison between the department and university administrative offices
Performs other work related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position
Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
