Lead or Sr. Technical Analyst – Operations Planning

Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is dedicated to ensuring reliable electricity delivery and fostering strong relationships among its employees. They are seeking a Lead or Sr. Technical Analyst to perform operational studies, develop powerflow models, and ensure compliance with reliability standards while collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Develop and analyze forward-looking powerflow models to identify potential system reliability risks
Identify and mitigate SOL and IROL exceedances through operating plans, operating guides, congestion management tools, and outage coordination
Coordinate, review, and approve planned outages to ensure Bulk Electric System reliability
Communicate study results and operating plans with internal operations staff and external stakeholders
Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned systems, tools, and processes
Ensure compliance with SPP policies, NERC standards, and FERC requirements
Lead process improvements, tool enhancements, and special projects
Provide on-call operational support and mentor junior staff

Required

Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline; Two (2) years of job-related experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement
Sr. Technical Analyst - Five (5) years of job-related work experience (In excess of Educational Requirements above)
NERC certification may satisfy one (1) year of experience requirement
Lead Technical Analyst - Ten (10) years of job-related work experience (In excess of Educational Requirements above)
Twelve (12) years of job-related work experience (In excess of Educational Requirements above)
Effective oral and written communication skills
Strong inter-personal and teamwork skills
Documented experience in power system engineering, operations engineering, transmission planning or related disciplines
Understanding of and compliance with SPP Policies and Procedures
