Relationship Manager Corporate Banking
UBA America is seeking a Relationship Manager for their Corporate Banking division to develop and manage accounts while driving balance sheet and P&L growth. The role involves sourcing new corporate clients, cross-selling products, and providing strategic advice to senior executives of client companies.
Responsibilities
Proactively sourcing and acquiring new corporate clients
Deepening "share of wallet" by cross-selling products such as Treasury Management, FX (Foreign Exchange), Transaction Banking products such as payments, trade finance
Lead process that identifies the customers’ and prospects’ financing needs, structure the credit facility, collaborates with internal stakeholders in writing the credit memo for approval
Strategic Advisor as a "consultant" to CEO, CFOs and Treasurers of customers providing insights on industry trends, capital structure optimization, and market conditions
Accountable for job performance actions, which includes decision(s) impacting position responsibilities conforming to the bank’s risk appetite and tolerance levels as articulated in the bank's Risk Appetite & Tolerance Framework, mitigating violations or breaches to the bank’s risk appetite in the exercise of their empowerment and the achievement of desired job performance outcomes as directed by Management
Cultivate, develop, and manage relationships with corporate entities with particular emphasis on North America
Work effectively with deal teams on highly complex transactions from an origination and structuring perspective
Assess opportunities and potential business (globally and locally) through research and analysis
Secure mandate to lead, arrange and participate in syndicated loans related opportunities
Idea and deal generation
Transaction Origination and distribution
Interface with clients at most senior level and relationship management
Conducting and maintaining up to date Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) due diligence on all customers in line with UBA America’s policies
Strict adherence to BSA / OFAC regulations ensuring that customers, prospects and their related parties are NOT on the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions list
Screen customers and prospects for adverse media controversies that could embarrass the bank. Adherence to underwriting of credit facilities in line with the bank’s underwriting standards
Continuously monitoring the compliance and financial health of the portfolio. This includes conducting annual reviews, monitoring covenant and regulatory compliance, and identifying early warning signs of both compliance and credit deterioration
Self-identify issues and escalate in line with bank policy to the appropriate approving authorities
Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon departmental and Branch needs. Other duties may be assigned like the above consistent with the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position
Qualification
Required
Develop, grow, and manage Accounts within Global Account Management Corporates banking business with Balance Sheet and P&L growth responsibility to manage the origination of strategic and value add business from target corporates in industry sectors per approved corporate strategy
Contribute to branch strategy through aligning activities with branch strategy and corporate business plans
The incumbent of this position shall be responsible for adhering to the provisions stated in the Employee Accountability Policy Statement
Align and comply always with the UBA America and Group's Corporate Governance and Professional Ethics standards
Ensure all activities comply with the UBA's corporate governance, regulatory and legal frameworks

For corporate RMs, this involves vetting a company's global subsidiaries

Effective Sales and Business Development Skills
Possess Credit analysis and risk management skills
Operating & Industry Knowledge of US Corporate Banking
Possess AML/KYC knowledge and familiarity especially as it relates to Corporate Banking and Transaction banking
Identify, manage, mitigate, and report for accrued or potential risks in divisional activities
Effective formal communication and presentation skills
In-depth understanding of products and services
Knowledge of the international banking sector
Knowledge of banking theory and practice
Minimum 5 years banking experience with a minimum of 3 years of US Corporate Banking sector / transaction banking experience, commercial lending, credit analysis, &/or corporate finance
A Bachelor's degree in Business, Management and Economics is preferred; degrees in science will be considered
Mastery of financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, and understanding of complex legal loan documentation
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills required for effective collaboration with external and internal customers
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business software; strong presentation skills; strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
Proficiency in French will be an added advantage
The job entails business development trips to Banks in Africa and the Americas
Ability to travel for short/extended periods of time with minimal notice
