Building Engineer-Electrician

JLL is seeking a Building Engineer/Electrician to join their Life Sciences Account team, where you'll ensure optimal operation of critical electrical systems in highly regulated environments. The role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electrical systems while ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, controls, and equipment throughout the facility
Execute preventative maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance and minimize operational downtime
Respond to emergency situations and equipment failures as the primary on-call troubleshooter for building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and door issues
Ensure strict compliance with electrical codes, regulations, and safety guidelines specific to life sciences environments
Collaborate with facility management, external vendors, and contractors to coordinate maintenance activities and specialized projects
Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, equipment inventory, and system modifications
Conduct safety inspections and audits while proactively identifying and addressing potential electrical hazards

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Valid electrician's license and relevant field certifications
Proven experience as Building Engineer/Electrician in life sciences facilities or similar highly regulated environments
Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, codes, and regulatory requirements
Experience using diagnostic tools, meters, and electrical testing equipment

Preferred

Additional technical certifications or training in electrical systems and building maintenance
Familiarity with automated building systems and Building Management Systems (BMS) interface
Experience with life sciences facility requirements and specialized equipment
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and record-keeping
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration
Experience coordinating with external vendors and contractors for facility projects
Strong troubleshooting abilities with proficiency in reading electrical schematics and blueprints
Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and adherence to industry best practices
