The S.C. Department of Public Health is committed to improving public health through data modernization initiatives. The Data Management Specialist will participate in the transition to a new electronic disease surveillance system, focusing on all stages of the project including requirements gathering, development, testing, and user support.

Responsibilities
Participates in the development and activation of an electronic disease surveillance system, including modeling, data validation, testing, training, and documentation
Works with IT to develop and support the ongoing maintenance of the CDES Data Warehouse
Partners with IT Teams to validate system functionality through smoke testing following server upgrades, migrations and other maintenance activities
Responds to help desk and other reports of issues with data quality and system functionality
Investigates root causes and recommends solutions
Provides summary reports related to identified issues for communication to stakeholders
Tracks issues and ensures communication between program area and IT teams until the issues are resolved
Documents issues and resolutions and develops standard operating procedures to prevent future occurrences
Performs other duties as required
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree and professional experience related to the position
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation

Preferred
Experience with large datasets and data pipelines
