Responsibilities
Receive, log, and accurately label incoming pathology specimens
Transport specimens and laboratory supplies between pathology, histology, and other clinical areas
Assist with accessioning by verifying patient information and ensuring proper documentation
Prepare specimen containers, cassettes, and materials required for grossing procedures
Restock reagents, slides, cassettes, fixatives, and other consumables to support uninterrupted workflow
Assist technologists and pathologist assistants with routine pre-analytical tasks as assigned
Clean and disinfect instruments, equipment, countertops, and work areas following safety protocols
Dispose of biohazard waste in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines
Monitor laboratory supply levels and report shortages to supervisors
Follow all safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements (CAP, OSHA, hospital policies)
Support general laboratory operations to promote efficiency and timely specimen processing
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or currently enrolled high school student with legal permission to work
Strong hand dexterity and ability to work with small instruments and medical equipment
Good communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clinical staff
Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently once trained
Preferred
Enrolled in or completed a college degree or vocational program, ideally in a science-related field
Prior experience in a laboratory or hospital setting
