Civil Project Engineer (Water/wastewater)
Cochran is a growing civil engineering firm with multiple offices in Missouri, specializing in various engineering services. They are seeking a Project Engineer with experience in water and wastewater infrastructure projects to support and lead engineering projects from planning through construction.
Responsibilities
Support and lead water/wastewater engineering projects from planning and design through construction
Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, design plans, and specifications
Assist in project management tasks, including budgeting, scheduling, and client coordination
Conduct field investigations and site visits as needed
Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff
Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and contractor inquiries during construction
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
EIT certification required
3–6 years of relevant experience in water and wastewater design and construction
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or other relevant design software
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Preferred
PE license preferred, or actively pursuing PE licensure
Municipal or utility client experience
Familiarity with permitting processes and regulatory agencies (e.g., EPA, DNR)
Hydraulic modeling software (e.g., WaterCAD, SewerCAD)
