Port of Seattle is responsible for managing and delivering capital improvement programs for the Maritime Division and Northwest Seaport Alliance. The Director of Waterfront Project Management will lead project management efforts, provide strategic guidance, and ensure effective communication and resource management across teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

You will support the core leadership teams of the NWSA and Port of Seattle operating divisions
You will provide strategic oversite, lead, monitor, and supervise teams of project managers, program leaders, and technical staff to achieve goals
You will also motivate and inspire department staff by creating an environment that is consistent with Port’s values
You will be responsible for resource balancing workloads and staffing and anticipating requirements in a timely manner to meet operational needs
You will select, promote, and invest in the careers of department staff by providing training, performance reviews, and extensive mentoring opportunities
You will develop, execute, and monitor departmental operating budget
You will coordinate and communicate with sponsors, managers, executives, and the Commission as needed
You will ensure high quality communications (memoranda and presentations) for Commission authorization and staff briefings
You will monitor, manage, and lead program performance to ensure internal and external stakeholders, executive, and Commission expectations of scope, schedule, and budget are met while also meeting funding, contracting, regulatory, permitting, operations, customer service, security, and Port policy objectives and requirements
You will be part of the Maritime Division’s leadership team, provide guidance and direction on design, construction, and project management technical and policy issues to include relations with consulting firms, contractors, and other governmental agencies
You will improve project delivery efficiency and effectiveness through development and implementation of process improvements across both the Port of Seattle and NWSA

Required

Eight (8) years of construction project management experience managing complex capital improvement programs
Five (5) years of supervisory and/or management experience leading a team of project management staff
Valid Washington State Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one
Ability to establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment
Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within the first three months of employment
Commitment to applying equity and exemplifying shared values, behaviors, and practices in all aspects of the work
Ability to lead through change, improve adversarial situations, and provide coaching, teaching, and mentorship to others
Ability to develop and implement strategies that align with overall Port goals and objectives while influencing and leading change throughout the department
Ability to see the big picture and come to a resolution, including crisis management, while balancing multiple stakeholders' interests
Highly developed communication skills, including written, negotiations, presentation, facilitation, and listening skills
Ability to effectively lead and manage capital projects and programs to ensure successful delivery within approved scope, budget, and schedule

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, Urban Planning or Environmental Science
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
Professional Engineer (PE) license
