Responsibilities
Monitor and/or complete audits of activities of a more complex nature within an assigned area of the Bank to ensure adherence to internal policies and processes and external regulations
Identify issues of non-compliance and communicate to appropriate parties as warranted to prevent future recurrence
Maintain records of discovered deficiencies. Complete regular reporting on these activities. Identify trends in the data and recommend and assist in the implementation of changes in policies and processes to address these
Maintain a thorough and current knowledge of the policies, processes and regulations affecting monitoring and/or auditing activities to ensure validity of analyses and findings
Identify potential areas for process or procedural improvements. Make recommendations and assist in implementing those approved
Serve as subject matter expert on these activities and provide guidance and training to less experienced personnel
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management
Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand
Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable
Complete other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate degree and a minimum of 3 years' related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 5 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years' related experience
Experience in collections and/or default servicing
Proven analytical skills
Strong organizational skills
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent word processing and spreadsheet software
Proven verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
Prior experience in functional areas supported
