Associate Prospect Development Consultant
BWF is a mission-driven for-profit company serving the nonprofit sector, offering a comprehensive suite of solutions. As an Associate Prospect Development Consultant, you will deliver prospect development consulting for clients in healthcare and academic medicine, higher education, and other nonprofit sectors.
Responsibilities
Conduct client work and provide direct consulting, producing clear, actionable deliverables that support decision-making and change adoption
Serve as a team member on larger engagements and lead select, smaller engagements as assigned
Projects and tasks may include interviewing staff, reviewing client documents, preparing process documents, report writing, creating and giving presentations, providing implementation counsel, training and coaching client staff, and developing policies and processes
Collaborate regularly with internal team members and clients to ensure cohesive, high-quality work delivered by deadline, including coordinating inputs, tracking decisions, managing risks and issues, and escalating shifts in scope or timeline
Manage concurrent client work (often 12–15 active projects at any given time) with varying deadlines, scopes, and deliverables
Meet annual revenue and operating income goals through efficient delivery, strong client satisfaction, and active participation in business development efforts
Create written content, pursue speaking opportunities, and engage with industry membership associations on a regular cadence to promote philanthropic expertise
Develop and maintain a professional network, including potential clients. Identify new leads, initiate conversations about opportunities, and support strategy and proposal development. For select opportunities, lead early-stage discovery and scoping with support from senior BWF leaders
Participate in ongoing internal activities as a productive member of the firm, including orientation and ongoing trainings, firm-wide client review meetings, methodology/tool development, knowledge sharing, and internal enablement

Qualification
Required
5+ years in institutional advancement in higher education, healthcare, and/or other nonprofit settings preferred; consulting experience a plus
2+ years of prospect development experience
Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills; ability to produce executive-ready written deliverables
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Sharp analytical and strategic thinking skills, including the ability to translate complex qualitative and quantitative inputs into clear, pragmatic recommendations
Superior time and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and sustain high performance over time
Comfort and capability in business development activities, including lead identification, initial discovery conversations, and proposal development support
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
