Responsibilities
Underwrite new and renewal contract surety submissions, analyzing contractor financial statements, work-in-progress schedules, credit reports, and project details
Make informed decisions to accept, decline, or modify risks within assigned authority, in alignment with underwriting strategy and company guidelines
Manage a profitable book of contract surety business through portfolio reviews and producer performance evaluations
Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and contractors to support growth and retention goals
Collaborate with internal teams (claims, legal, actuarial) to ensure comprehensive account management
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments in construction and bonding
Represent Intact at industry events and agency visits to maintain visibility and strengthen market presence
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
2–3 years of underwriting experience in contract surety or related lines
Understanding of contractor financials, credit analysis, and construction industry practices
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
