Sponsored Projects Accounting Manager

The Sponsored Projects Accounting Manager will manage grants, ensure accurate reporting, and maintain compliance across the organization's sponsored projects portfolio.

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate grant financial data in internal systems (Sage Intacct, Expensify) and relevant federal/non-federal portals. Assist with grant spending projections, prepare grant financial reports and ensure accurate grant activation and closeout
Manage monthly grant reconciliations to the general ledger and prepare monthly journal entries, ensure accurate posting of expenses, and monitor for unallowable costs. Prepare and process correcting journal entries, including payroll allocation adjustments
Support cash flow tracking, aging reports, and reconciliation of revenue recognition vs. receipts
Manage grant account setup, monthly reconciliation, sponsor invoicing, subaward payments
Provide audit support, and monitor adherence to federal, state, local, and private funder requirements
Prepare and submit grant invoices; track payments and follow up on outstanding receivables
Assist with Uniform Guidance Single Audit, financial audits, and funder desk audits
Provide proactive financial guidance and respond to internal inquiries related to revenue release, account activity, and financial policy questions
Perform additional job-related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Public Administration, or related field
2 years of experience in grant accounting, fund accounting, sponsored programs administration, or nonprofit financial management
Experience with federal, state, city, and foundation-funded projects
Knowledge of Uniform Guidance and federal cost principles
Experience with general ledger accounting systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Experience with Sage Intacct, Expensify, Salesforce, Adaptive, or similar financial systems
