Responsibilities
Develop competence in shearing, roll bending, roll planishing, sanding, grinding, basic machine operation, trimming, and forklift operation
Safely perform high-quality operations and accurate setups on shearing, roll bending, roll planishing, bellows mechanical punch forming, bellows hydroforming, convolution re-rolling, trimming, and bellows press sizing
Meet all Fab Operator I requirements
Independently and regularly perform high-quality operations and accurate setups for metal fabrication processes
Train others on all forming equipment as needed
Independently perform filler rod welding to specification
Set up and seam weld material thicknesses of 0.010” and greater, or with guidance, 0.006” and less
Stage materials and jobs for the next operations
Identify solutions that lead to measurable improvements in production processes
Qualification
Required
Must have a solid understanding of safety, basic math, basic metal fabrication mechanics, computer interfaces, measurement tools, proper hand and power tool usage, and blueprint reading skills
With adequate guidance and training, the Fab Operator will develop competence in shearing, roll bending, roll planishing, sanding, grinding, basic machine operation, trimming, and forklift operation
The Fab Operator must also learn to meet production standards, navigate FlexNet, and effectively use Epicor
Performance must meet expectations for safety and earned hours
With minimal guidance and training, the team member will safely perform high-quality operations and accurate setups on shearing, roll bending, roll planishing, bellows mechanical punch forming, bellows hydroforming, convolution re-rolling, trimming, and bellows press sizing
Must meet all Fab Operator I requirements
The team member must regularly perform accurate measurements using appropriate measurement tools and meet expectations for safety, scrap reduction, and earned hours
The team member must independently set up and seam weld material thicknesses of 0.006" or less on stainless steel and Inconel, and independently complete fusion assembly welds using a lathe or weld positioner, while being capable of training others on all seam welding equipment
The individual consistently ensures materials and jobs are staged for the next one or two operations and consistently identifies solutions that lead to measurable improvements, such as reduced inspection time, faster cycle time, reduced setup time, reduced scrap, reduced downtime, and less rework
Performance consistently exceeds expectations for safety, earned hours, setup efficiency, and scrap reduction on repeating work using previously listed equipment
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical specifications, common business documents, and industry publications
Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints from manufacturing personnel
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inferences
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportional to practical situations
Ability to work with principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.)
Must be an organized self-starter with good reasoning skills
Must be able to work under general supervision and take direction
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk; sit, talk and hear, stand, use hands; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance
Physical requirements are the ability to lift up to 25 pounds continuously, 50 pounds occasionally, or up to 100 pounds, with assistance
Must possess basic personal computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, to include Word, Excel, Power Point, Project and Microsoft Outlook
Preferred
Experience in multi-functional and product development teams preferred
Experience in a multi-shift manufacturing environment
