Responsibilities
Operating heavy mobile equipment such as bulldozers, graders, loaders, and other machinery for road construction, maintenance, and repair
Performing routine inspections and minor maintenance on equipment to ensure safe operation
Assisting in highway and bridge maintenance tasks, including clearing debris, grading surfaces, and transporting materials
Following safety protocols and DOTD operational guidelines during equipment use
Working under the direction of a Highway Foreman and possibly assisting in training or guiding less experienced operators
Qualification
Required
Valid Louisiana driver's license will be required upon appointment
Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) will be required upon appointment for Mobile Equipment Operator 2 and Mobile Equipment Operator 1/Heavy
Class A CDL license is required within 12 months of employment
Drug test is required
Will need working knowledge of light computer work
May require work involving night time operations or call outs for emergencies that occur outside of normal work hours
Lifting: a maximum of 50 pounds may be required, due to servicing equipment
