Responsibilities

Managing the leave-of-absence team
Handling all aspects of absence, disability, and leave-of-absence processes
Managing our primary vendor
Organizing the RJ strategy for various state laws related to paid time off and disability
Ensuring compliance with applicable federal laws, including ADA and FMLA
Workers' compensation, Workday integrations, and policy development and interpretation

Required

Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal leave laws
Experience in policy development and interpretation
Knowledge and experience with workers' compensation laws and administration
Experience in managing vendors and consultants
Experience in developing a strategy related to ADL
Proven ability to break down and improve work processes
Ability to produce, utilize, and report on metrics related to ADL
Ability to partner with other functional areas and senior leaders to accomplish objectives
Ability to interpret and apply state and federal regulations and applicable rules to complex benefit and leave of absence issues and problems
Ability to read, interpret, analyze, and apply information from insurance-related materials and service agreement contracts
Ability to organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
Ability to keep all appropriate parties up-to-date on decisions, changes, and other relevant information
Ability to articulate reasons behind decisions
Ability to provide a high level of customer service
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Ability to maintain currency in all aspects of the assigned insurance area
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
College degree or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience
Call center experience requires problem resolution, a plus

Preferred

Previous management experience is strongly preferred
College degree preferred
State leave law knowledge preferred
HRMS processing, audits, and queries, are strongly preferred
Intermediate Excel skills preferred
Report writing skills, including Workday, are strongly preferred
Proven ability to listen to clients, identify their specific concerns, and resolve them strongly preferred
Proven ability to respond with courtesy and professionalism to difficult clients preferred
Ability to resolve client calls with a minimum of preferred escalation
Five years' experience in health and welfare group insurance and leave of absence strongly preferred
