Service Representative, Brokerage Placement – Commercial Lines

Responsibilities

Perform policy service activities primarily by phone and electronically within established time and service standards. Service activities include handling policy status requests, certificates of insurance (COI), renewal follow-up requests, and other related tasks
Assist underwriters with agency support activities and aim to complete all transactions in a first time-final mode
Make decisions to accept, modify, or decline business of lower complexity according to policies, practices, and standards. Determine the accurate classification of risks to ensure the matching of price and product to the customer. Make endorsement decisions based on acceptability of endorsements. Determine applicable markets and qualifying risks. Prioritize and make decisions for day-to-day work management
Research information from multiple sources, following company guidelines, to support underwriting analysis. May require capturing verbal information or data through reports or other electronic means
Review individual risks for acceptability based on multiple carriers' underwriting guidelines, state regulations and surplus lines requirements. May perform analysis for others or in support of higher-level underwriters
Consult with agents, internal, and external partners regarding customer service activities. Recommend opportunities for internal process design and operation. Work with leaders, peers, and other departments to share and gather vital information for completing work. Communicate effectively with agencies and internal/external partners to fulfill assigned tasks
Plan completion of assignments to meet agreed-upon timelines and service level agreements
Provide service to agencies by sharing and requesting information to support the business. Establish rapport with customers through day-to-day interactions. Routes calls and higher-level issues to appropriate individuals. May assist brokerage specialists with agency support activities
Maintain and form relationships by providing quality customer service. Build positive relationships with peers and team members
Achieve team goals through developing a profitable book of business and strategically growing both policies in force and premium

Qualification

P&C LicenseSurplus Lines LicenseInsurance experienceBusiness administration degreeCustomer service

Required

P&C License and Surplus Lines License or L&H License in all states (if required by product line) required within 45 days

Preferred

Undergraduate studies in business administration or related field of study; degree (preferred)
One year of related insurance experience (preferred) will consider undergraduate degree in lieu of experience
