Employment Associate (NY or NJ)
DLA Piper is a bold and collaborative firm seeking an employment associate for its Short Hills, NJ and/or New York, NY office. The role involves handling complex employment litigation and providing legal advice and counsel on various employment law matters.

Responsibilities
The Associate will be handling litigation management, legal research, legal drafting, and other litigation-related tasks for complex employment litigation, including but not limited to matters involving alleged failure to pay wages and/or bonuses, off-the-clock work, misclassification, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, breach of contract, and wrongful termination
The Associate will also be handling employment law advice and counsel matters; drafting and negotiation of employment, termination/severance, and related agreements; and may also conduct employment due diligence and advise on employment aspects of corporate transactions
Other advice subjects include restrictive covenants, employee mobility, compensation practices, commission plans, employee policies/training, and leave of absence/accommodations (FMLA, ADA) issues
Qualification
Required
JD
Admitted to practice in New Jersey and/or New York
3-6 years of experience in labor and employment, including litigation, advice and counsel, and transactional work
Strong knowledge of state and federal employment laws, including wage and hour laws, discrimination laws, and practice before state and federal court and administrative agencies
Experience in the defense of complex employment litigation, provision of day-to-day employment advice and counsel to HR professionals and in-house counsel
Strong writing and analytical skills; able to work multi-task and work independently
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
