Responsibilities
Functioning as an in-house electrical engineer/designer
Consulting with Physical Plant on infrastructure planning and for small project designs
Supporting Design & Construction project managers to review project design submissions and provide project design guidance
Supporting the electrical engineering needs of Facilities Engineering
Acting as project manager for selected projects, responsible for all aspects of design and construction of assigned capital projects, including planning, project work, scope & budget, management of client expectations, budget & schedule, contracts & payments, submittals, progress reporting and close-out
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
Minimum of five (5) years in the field, including design of building electrical systems
Excellent written/oral communications skills
Experience with all facets of design and construction projects
Excellent written/oral communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical and computer skills
Knowledge of construction project sequencing, terminology, documentation, processes, and procedures
Knowledge, skills and techniques to direct and coordinate consultants, contractors, end users and materials through all stages of construction projects
Preferred
Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of New York or in a comparable jurisdiction
Knowledge of NYS Building Codes & NFPA standards, Facility Guidelines Institute healthcare guidelines, and Hospital procedures
Familiarity with State University of New York (SUNY) procurement guidelines and design guidelines
Experience in a contract and/or procurement environment
Leadership skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Project or other scheduling software
Building Information Modeling (BIM) experience
Proficiency with AUTOCAD, REVIT, and SKM electrical software
Experience managing or design of healthcare related projects
