Project Engineer- Multifamily Developer - Downtown Chicago
Navigate Search is seeking a sharp, organized construction professional to support the delivery of complex highrise multifamily construction projects in Downtown Chicago. The role involves coordinating between field operations, design teams, and subcontractors while managing schedules, budgets, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Support project leadership throughout planning, buyout, construction, and closeout
Serve as a central point for information flow between field operations, design teams, and subcontractors
Assist with schedules, budgets, coordination, and paperwork associated with active projects
Help prepare quantity surveys and scopes of work
Assist with pricing exercises, estimate development, and value‐engineering efforts
Research and help vet subcontractors and vendors
Maintain organized control of drawings, specifications, addenda, and related documents
Prepare meeting agendas, attend progress meetings, and distribute action items
Process RFIs, submittals, and approvals using project management software
Track procurement, long-lead items, and delivery schedules
Assist with permit applications and agency approvals
Support change management, including logging, tracking, and documentation
Maintain various logs such as RFIs, submittals, contracts, change orders, punch lists, and closeout documents
Coordinate communication among field teams, subcontractors, consultants, utilities, and ownership stakeholders
Work alongside superintendents to monitor daily site activity
Prepare purchase orders and monitor material deliveries
Document field conditions, design revisions, and potential cost or schedule impacts
Participate in site safety initiatives
Assist in developing and closing punch lists and deficiency lists
Help coordinate site visits and inspections
Qualification
Required
Associate's degree or higher in construction management, project management, engineering, or related discipline
Understanding of construction processes and applicable building codes
Experience working with scheduling and document-management tools
Proficiency with common office and project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Office, Bluebeam)
