Assistant Vice President of Benefits
Confidential company is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Benefits, a senior leader responsible for designing and executing a forward-thinking benefits strategy. This role involves strategic leadership, program design, financial management, and data analytics to support the organization’s business goals and workforce needs.

Responsibilities
Develop and lead a multi-year benefits and total rewards strategy aligned with business objectives, talent strategy, and financial goals
Partner with HR, Finance, and executive leadership to position benefits as a competitive advantage for attraction, retention, and engagement
Evaluate market trends, benchmarking data, and employee insights to evolve offerings across health, wellness, retirement, leave, and wellbeing programs
Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of all benefit programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, time off, wellness, and voluntary benefits)
Establish governance frameworks, policies, and controls to ensure compliance, sustainability, and scalability
Lead vendor strategy including RFPs, negotiations, and performance management
Own the benefits budget and long-term cost strategy, balancing competitiveness with financial discipline
Partner with Finance and Risk to model plan design changes, evaluate ROI, and mitigate financial and regulatory risk
Use data and analytics to drive decisions on utilization, engagement, equity, and cost trends
Translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations for senior leaders
Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing benefits team
Serve as a trusted advisor to executives, HR Business Partners, and business leaders on benefits strategy and workforce planning
Lead enterprise-wide benefits transformations and major initiatives
Partner with Communications and HR to create compelling, employee-centered benefits messaging
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required
10+ years of progressive experience in benefits / total rewards, with significant strategic leadership responsibility
Proven experience designing enterprise-level benefits strategies in complex, multi-state or global organizations
Hands-on experience with Workday HCM and Benefits modules required, including configuration, integrations, and reporting
Deep knowledge of U.S. benefits compliance (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.); global experience a plus
Strong financial acumen and experience managing large budgets and vendor relationships
Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and operate as a strategic business partner
Preferred
Master's degree or MBA preferred
