Responsibilities
Installs, maintains and customizes operating systems software, utility software packages and related products on UNIX and Linux operating systems
Utilizes VCU Computer Center established project management, technology change management, and problem reporting processes and tools as an integral part of all support activities
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated knowledge of information technology fundamentals and concepts in a multi-platform, multi-operating systems environment, specifically Linux server operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Rocky and Ubuntu Server
Working knowledge of common software languages, utilities and application programs such as shell scripts, Linux Text editors, and other Linux system utilities
Ability to install software packages on Linux and other Unix-based operating system platforms
Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve problems related to operating systems and related software
Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred
Experience working in a production Data Center preferred
Knowledge of Ansible (AAP) and Satellite is preferred
